Female Hero-faces

Forgot the time a little bit while I was drawing :O
So anyways, as I had announced yesterday I played around a bit more with the female hero idea and I decided that I really want to take one of these sketches and make a more detailed, illustration. The question is which one of the sketches-any suggestions?

Female Hero the second

Trying to make it better, trying new stuff. I liked yesterdays better though :O the face with this one is kind of messed up...
Sorry about this so not emancipated, horrible and impractical suit-I don't know why, it just looks better but I don't like it either, so I will definetely change that with the next try..
And it is purple again but they looked horrible on the photo, so sorry about that ;)
Oh and apparently I got tagged to do the TMI tag thing-there's something for tomorrow as well :)

Character Drawings-female hero

Be patient with me! I know drawing from imagination is not my strong field, I really really want to carry on doing it and get better, so be patient with me ;)
You can't see much of the color anymore beause of the weird picture. The suit is kind of purple blue-ish :)

Airplane Doodles the second

Being without a routine it is really hard to remember stuff. I completly forgot about blogpost today for example, even though I've been doing it everyday for ages. It must be all the studying damaging my brain :O
And looking at this drawing, I'm realizing that I can't have been thinking straight-this looks like a round dome seamlessly melting into an angular building...What was I thinking?

Bus stop sketches

These are such a fun way to pass time at bus stops! And also really good practise for figure drawing-you only have a few minutes to figure out proportions and be quick in case they move and can then add details and expressions afterwards.

They are pretty rough, but I still like them for some reason :)

Here's something I did in the beautiful Finland, it is only a doodle type thing, but I think it demonstrates quite well what I mean when I say that I want to try combining patterns and other stuff-in this case the character drawings :) I think it can really add to the expression of the pictures but I'm not quite sure how I'm going to do that yet...
So anyway, lots of love to wherever you are-I'll carry on with Physics now...

Finished initials

Hey everyone! Technical difficulties (no seriously! XD) made this post so late today-sorry!
Anyway, enjoy the finished initials! I really like this piece, it's completly from imagination and I think the whole outline brought the whole thing together really well at the end.
And as you can see, this is actually a really cool scan and not a photo, thanks again!

Airplane Scribbles

I'm early today! Aren't you proud! ;)
This is just one of the airplanes scribbles I did...Looking at it no you can really tell that the dome is not in the right perspective...ah well...

Big wavy hair!

Skeeeeeetching! my brain isn't capable of more these days. Can't wait until the exams are over :)
These are from imagination by the way :) I really want to do a big piece in this kind of style but I don't know what about :O any ideas?

Orchid Pattern

Further experiments :) Like this, it is not really special, but I'm planning to incoperate these kind of patterns into my more naturalistic pieces-maybe as like a watermark or a background or something I'm not sure yet. In order to do that, I first have to build up a repertoire though, so bear with me ;)
I tried different mediums as well-these ones were the ones I like best :)

Humpback whale (with fish!)

Didn't do much, just darkened it alittle and added some fish. Now I think it works a lot better with the spacing :)
Sorry for the sucky photo by the way-it is always hard taking pictures of the big ones, especially when it's dark!
See all you lovely people tomorrow!

Commission-humpback whale

Finally getting round to this cool commission. I must say finding the reference photo was the hardest for this, because apparently taking pictures of full humpback whales is not the easiest thing in the world XD
I now found one, but the colors are not in great shape so I'm basically using the colors of a different one-complicated story.
So anyway, it is not quite done yet, I want to make the contrast higher and add some more detail to the pen layer but I think it is working out quite well so far! ;) And it's bigger than it looks on this photo!

This week is so awesome!

I'm Back with some initials!

Woohooo! Hello everyone! ;) I'm back from the beautiful Finland! Had an amazing creative time there, lots of creative juices were flowing and I'm sure you'll see some of the influences of this trip in some of the next pieces! I also drew there quite a bit, so maybe in the next few weeks you'll see some of those sketches too! :)
This piece has been long waiting to be finished though, it is not quite done yet, the bottom part is still a little rough and empty but it won't be long until it's done ;)

This is a really interesting style I'm exploring right now. I really like it, and I think I'll do some more pieces like this...

Takeover - Initial sketch vs. line-art vs. finshed piece & Aliens

First of all, I'm so so sorry for not posting yesterday guys and also sorry Alex for ruining your statistics. I know I suck. Ffs Alex runs this blog now for so long and has missed how many days? Two? And I've to do four days and already mess up. Sorry.
But: I do have an excuse. I was already running late (yayy, procrastination) and than my internet connection died, but because it was already quite late, I couldn't ask my brother to fix it.
But on a positive note: As you can see my internet connection works again and so I'm here with what I wanted to show you yesterday aswell as the stuff I had in mind for today.

Part 1:

I decided not to start all over with the Sick Puppies cartoon-thingy, because when I looked at it yesterday I decided that I needed some fixes here and there but wasn't as bad as I had initially thought.

Do you also sometimes feel like your drawings lose a lot of character and life when you turn the sketches into line-art and then into a finished product? Sometimes I think scetches look so much cooler and energetic than the finished drawings...Maybe you can see what I mean:
3. Finished drawing.

2. Line-Art
1. Sketch

For the people wondering why the characters don't have faces and why it's only 'area-shading' and not detailed shading: I'm currently trying to find my own cartoon-style and an the moment I really like the simplified style.
But I have to say I don't like this drawing because the people look rather stiff and not as dynamic as I wanted them to be (especially the guy on the right.) Wow, they look like a 10 year old kid drew them. Damn.

Part 2:

As some of you might know, I love drawing aliens and I've recently been using them as a kind of warm-up exercise. These are some of my favourites:

So. This is it for me, tomorrow you'll have Alex back :) And then you will finally get more organized posts again and not my random and chaotic stuff.
And sorry for all the talking btw, I just love explaiing what was going on in my mind while drawing etc.

Takeover - Cartoon style and days on which you shouldn't pick up a pencil...

Do some of you also have those days, where you really feel like drawing something, but nothing turns out the way you wanted it to be and you just get super frustrated? Yeah, right. Today was one of those days for me. And I figured the best thing you can do in those situations is just stop and try again tomorrow. But since I promised Alex I would run the blog for a few days I can't leave you without a drawing today, so I'll just show you my failed attampt compared to other drawings that turned out the way they should. I always think it's interesting to also see an artist's worst drawings and not only the ones that turned out good. So here ya go:

This is what it should look like:

Sidenote: I gave this to the band yesterday at their concert and they said they liked it! (Or they were just being polite, but whatever :P)

Just line-art, but you get the idea.

This is what it looks like:

Sorry for all the band-related stuff by the way, I know it's probably quite uninteresting for you. Tomorrow I'll hopefully be able to show you a new, better and finished version of the Sick Puppies drawing but on Wednesday (the last day) I will show you something that has nothing to do with my band-obsession, I promise ;)

Takeover - Jimmy Urine

Hey there everybody! :)
Alex already warned you: You're stuck with me for the next few days. Sorry for that :P
But since Alex asked me just yesterday if I could run the blog while she is in Finnland, I didn't really had the time to prepare something special for you guys. But I dug out a drawing I made about half a year ago for an exhibition (yes, this one), so some of you may have seen it already but I really like how this one turned out so whatever. It's Jimmy Urine, the singer of Mindless Self Indulgence btw.
(Sorry for the big-ass watermark btw)
See y'all tomorrow with some more (hopefully new) art :)

Uspenski Cathedral-finished!

I'm so sorry guys for not posting the last few days-it has been a crazy week so keeping the routine is really hard.
But anyway, here is the finished Uspenski Cathedral! I can't find the pen I mainly used in the ink one, but I really wanted to finish a drawing of it, so here is the ball point pen version :)
Furthermore, I will actually be going to Finland for the next few days, so you will have the pleasure of seeing Christina's Art again who will be guest posting :)
Lots of love and see you Thursday!

Little part of a bigger card I'm making. Such a cute little guy ;)

Uspenski Cathdral-Shading

I tidied up today :) and now I can't find the pen with the right thickness anymore so I could only do some more shading today...XD
I wonder what this will look like when the whole cathedral is done! *.*

Uspenki Cathedral-fineliner

Different medium, also mainly free handed sketches :D With some parts the perspective is messed up-I really have to work on that, but I kind of like it like this as well....XD

Uspenski Cathedral-preliminary sketches

I googled Finland today because I'm going there soon and I fell in love with this cathedral. I'm definitely going to make something out of this, it is soo cooooool!
Preliminary sketching in pen is pretty nerve racking :D but relaxing too-you really have to concentrate when you put down lines, but when you have done so you know exactly that you can't change them so you just work with what you have. Definitely and interesting process :)
